I’m a tube, YouTube, we’re all tubes.

If you’d like to keep up with all the most frivolous and overly exciting Banana Sesh news and gossip (just like Heat! but a million times worse) then get along to our YouTube channel.

We’ve been doing some stuff that’s quite cool, I suppose, like some new covers and some footage from the studio.

Just in case you’d been sorely missing our ridiculous faces… go have a cheeky peek HERE.

The Banana Sessions Mixtape

That’s right, folks. Our time has come. We’re releasing our very first debut album – The Banana Sessions Mixtape.

It’s early days, like… but just wanted to keep you in the loop and that, ken? We’re going into Castlesound tomorrow to lay down the bulk of it, before spending the rest of the week in The Depot laying down all the overdubs.

What’s even more exciting is we have some amazing guest musicians appearing on it, including mad fiddle and accordion skills from Aidan O’Rourke and Martin Green from Lau… some lovely jubbly harp action from folk legend, Mary Macmaster and the sublime backing vocals of much-loved harmony group, The Bevvy Sisters.

It’s all go in banana world. Eyes firmly peeled now!

The Banana Sessions Summertime Shabang

GET YOUR ADVANCE TICKETS HERE (before they all sell out…) http://thebananasessions.bigcartel.com/product/summertime-shabang-gig-ticket

Featuring THE BANANA SESSIONS! Would you believe it!? They’re back for one of their face-melting banana enthusiast conventions… only this time, it’s to celebrate the clocks going forward by one hour. That’s right, folks – British Summer Time (BST) is landing!

These five banana-obsessed fruit loops are throwing one final Edinburgh party before they start wading their merry way through the festival season – and what a busy one it is too. The pesky bunch of raggle-taggle-folk-popsters will be wellington-booted up to their eyeballs and swashbuckling their way through piles of mud and warm beer for a wee while so join them for one of their legendary shindigs before they lose a substantial amount of their limited brain cells.
PLUS! We’ll be featuring some very special guest musicians who go by the name of The Bevvy Sisters (with some hardcore backing vocals and harmon-ees) and the mad harpologist skills of Mary Macmaster (of Macmaster and Hay fame). It’s all incredibly exciting.

Also featuring support from THE LAST OF BARRETT’S PRIVATEERS – A three-sometimes-four-part-harmony folk music quartet featuring a line-up of guitars, banjos, ukuleles, fiddles… and a trumpet thrown in for bloody good measure. Soft and lilting at times, at others loud and powerful with influence coming from the likes of Beirut, the Acorn and Fleet Foxes – as well as more traditional Scottish folk music. You won’t be able to watch them without a massive smile appearing on your cheeky chops.

Compering for the evening will be The Ginger Renegade (aka Cammy Sinclair), who will be providing the masses with impeccable chat and team-building exercises for the evening, a little bit like Mr Motivator would. Only Mr Motivator has far less hair. And our Cammy is far less annoying.

We’ll also have summer-themed tune spins, the cheesiest we can think up for your listening pleasure, from DJ Nem all night long, live drawing from the oh-so-talented Too Much Fun Club and Banana Rum Summer Smoothies to wet your whistles with.

On top of ALL OF THIS… we’ll also have The Banana Sessions Marketplace selling hand-made jewellery, original artwork and Banana Sesh merchandise so bring along some pennies. Mother’s Days is fast approaching after all.

Tickets: £7 advance, £10 on the door.

Chartstorming – The Banana Sessions for the Top 40?!

THE BANANA SESSIONS FOR PRIME MINISTER

Ladies and gentleman, your attention please…

I don’t know if you’re aware of the hip, hop and happening goings on at the moment but another Facebook group phenomenon has arisen, which is pretty much on the same shelf as the ‘Rage Against The Machine for Christmas No.1’ banter. So if you liked that, then this may well be your cup of tea.

A man named Wes White has started a brand spanking new group called ‘Storm The Charts’ – the aim of which is to get as many unsigned acts into the top 40 as humanly possible. Around 500 bands entered, which was then whittled down to a final 40. And lo and behold, we made it into the final 40 after being picked by a guest panellist called Steve Henwood, who very luckily for us, is involved with bookings for Glastonbury. Happy days, I hear you say.

So, that brings us to the here and now – the point at which or lovely, beautiful, legendary fans can do their bit. The final 40 songs have been uploaded to iTunes under this link: http://bit.ly/stormitunes. Show us some love and buy our track ‘Jukebox’ and help us out on our mission for making this year, The Year of the Banana. We, The Banana Sessions, salute you and offer high fives all round.

Please note, after all this has blown over, our next mission is to eliminate David Cameron and take his place at 10 Downing Street, forming a five-way coalition government that will insist on copious amounts of tea, encourage your children towards the essential consumption of their 5-a-day, and most importantly, demand free Buckfast for the masses. Stay tuned. And buy our tune. Cheers.

Glasgow show announced

Tuesdays have never really been the coolest weekday of the bunch, have they? I mean, it’s too late to have the Monday blues, but it’s sho’ nuff a long way till the weekend, know what I mean?

But while the rest of the world does their uncool thing, The Banana Sessions have their way of making Tuesdays a little bit more fruity. It’s called Tunesday. It’s like Tuesday, but with awesome Tunes.

And normally, cause folk are busy being boring on a Tuesday, only The Banana Sessions get to enjoy Tunesday. But this week, it’s Glasgow’s lucky Tuesday. We’re coming to YOU.

New Single – Preview here!

Well, you may think we’ve been a little quiet of late, and you’d be right from the outsider’s point of view, but here deep inside Banana Sessions HQ we’ve been hard at work, putting in many hours in the studio and working on another single which is finally ready to share with you now. As the band have progressed we’ve found ourselves playing more high profile slots at festivals and clubs, and as we’ve taken to the stage later and later into the night at these gigs we’ve found the need to give people something to dance to even more pressing and this was an important influence in what we’ve been writing, as you’ll soon hear.

We’ve been lucky enough to work with a renowned producer from Berlin who goes by the name of Thomas Dubbel (aka T.Dub) who has been like an extra limb pressing buttons for us in the studio, working wide-eyed into the night to take the Banana Sessions into an exciting new area, fusing together more styles than ever before. Thomas is not only a renowned producer and DJ, but also a former pastry chef in a top Berlin restaurant, and when not spending hours capturing the perfect vocal take with Roberta he managed to find time to make several batches of his speciality ‘Disco Biscuits’ which seemed to have a remarkable effect of keeping the band energised, when taken with a few cups of tea.

So, without further ado, we’re pleased to be able to give you taster of our new direction exclusively here  - it’s our new single, a reworking of our track A Little Share, it’s to be released later this month and we hope it moves you.
